Social Programme
The college has a lively social programme which includes discos, movie nights, an international evening and other varied creative activities as well as end of term parties and day trips to various cities in the UK. Some of the activities are free of charge, though students are asked to contribute towards some of them. Students elect their own representatives to form a Student Committee so their views on activities can be expressed.
A weekly sports programme at the Bath Leisure Centre can be arranged where all the students are encouraged to get involved in something. Throughout the year, the students can play football, badminton, netball, table tennis, basketball and tennis.
Summer Boat Party 2010
Our Summer Boat Party was the biggest event of the year; a chance for students and staff to let their hair down before exams. Everyone dressed in their fabulous party clothes and sipped fine fruit punch before setting off on the gorgeous Penny Lane boat down the river Avon.
After a short stop in the weir to take some exciting photos, a delicious buffet was served whilst the DJ played some relaxing tunes. After the selection of enticing desserts, guests relaxed on deck in the beautiful summer evening light and the dancing took off inside. It truly was an international evening as many students took to the dance floor and demonstrated dancing from their home countries, much to the delight of onlookers.
Much too soon, it seemed, it was time to say goodnight and we look forward to the Summer Party of 2011
English Students visit ss Great Britain 2010
Students from the ELT department enjoyed a wonderful day out in Bristol to visit one of the most important historic ships in the world. This was the ss. Great Britain, one of the first iron steamships designed to cross the Atlantic from Bristol to America. When she was launched in 1843, she was called ‘the greatest experiment since the Creation.’
The ss. Great Britain was built by the famous engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel who designed many incredible feats of engineering including the Great Western Railway upon which the students travelled from Bath to Bristol and then by water taxi directly to the ship.
Fortunately, the weather was mainly sunny although it was typically cold – not surprising for February! The ship was very interesting with lots to see and many ‘hands–on’ items to instruct and entertain. Many students visit Bristol during their stay at Bath Academy and although they usually get to see another amazing piece of engineering, namely the Clifton Suspension Bridge (also the work of Brunel), they do not always see this ‘grand iron lady’ whose earlier sister ship, the ‘Great Western’, broke the speed record for an Atlantic crossing in 1837 on her first voyage to New York.

Halloween Party 2009
The classrooms took on a very different feel as night fell on Friday October 31st. Students donned their scariest faces to the best Halloween party in town right here at Bath Academy. Desks and chairs were abandoned and rooms were adorned as traditional party games mingled with some of the best sounds around, courtesy of our very own DJ. No one quite managed to catch a bobbing apple (although everyone tried) but a few were more successful with pinning the wart on the witch and passing the pumpkin. With a Halloween quiz and Halloween bingo, the prizes just kept on coming and this was all before the dancing started.

International Evening 2008
Saturday, March 10th saw Bath
Academy students and staff,
gather at the Green Park Brasserie
for the Academy's annual International
Evening. A wide range of nationalities
was represented, including
China, Vietnam, Qatar, Iran,
Nigeria, Zambia, Kazhakstan,
Malaysia. Dubai, Seychelles,
Kenya, and Tunisia.
Performances ranged from a
recital on the santoor, a traditional
Iranian stringed instrument,
to a Spanish Duet and the teachers
even got involved by singing
some barbershop classics! For
the finale, everyone joined
in with a rendition of John
Lennon's Imagine, lead by Payam.
Some
of the students came dressed
in their finest traditional
clothes, and prizes were given
to the best dressed girl and
boy, who were Abu and Fidelia
from Nigeria and Zambia. The
prize for the best performance,
a meal for two at the Firehouse
Rotisserie, went to Payam
for his santoor playing. The
night was rounded off with
a hot snack buffet and dancing
to the Soundmaster DJ's until
peoples legs got tired.
Special thanks goes out to
everyone who was involved in
organising the event and to
all the performers. It was definitely
a memorable evening!
